Many times when we’re writing, we have a tendency to use punctuation to tell the story. But, instead, we should use our words, after all, we’re writers. 🙂
Using punctuation –
“What are you doing?!”
Using words –
“What are you doing?” I screeched at the top of my vocal range, trying to comprehend the sight before my eyes.
Here’s my disclaimer: When you read my work, you will quite likely see !’s. Because I still love using them. 🙂 But I use them far less than I used to. And I no longer use this “?!” combination. I use one or the other.
Do you have a manuscipt? Or even just a few pages written? If so, take a look. How are you using your punctuation? And is there a way for you to use your words instead?
